Organizations for Cycling Advocacy Resources
-Wiki Bicycle Collective
Want to repair your bike but don't have your own tools? Check out the wiki bicycle collective site bikecollectives.org to find a bike collective near you!
What are bike collectives? They are bike workshops (run by volunteers) that provide used parts and tools to the public, sometimes for a "stand fee" and sometimes for free. You don't need to know anything to visit, just show up during their open hours and ask a volunteer mechanic to assist you with whatever you'd like to do to your bicycle.
-League of American Bicyclists
For generations past and to come, https://www.bikeleague.org/ represents bicyclists in the movement to create safer roads, stronger communities, and a Bicycle Friendly America. Through education, advocacy and promotion, we work to celebrate and preserve the freedom cycling brings to our members everywhere.
We believe Bicycling makes life better for everyone.
When more people ride bikes…
People are happier and healthier,
Our Communities are safer, stronger, and better connected,
Our Nation is socially and economically stronger,
Our Environment is more protected and we are slowing climate change.
Our Vision We envision a nation where everyone, whether they bike or not, recognizes and enjoys the many benefits and opportunities of bicycling and where everyone can experience the joy of bicycling.
Our Mission To create a bicycle-friendly America for Everyone, improving lives and strengthening communities through bicycling.
-Since 1999, PeopleForBikes.org has created a prominent place for bikes in transportation, mobility and recreation decisions at all levels of government. We ensure bikes are prioritized and positioned as a real solution to improve Americans’ health, connect communities, boost local and state economies, strengthen our nation and protect our planet.
We accomplish this by being proactive and planning for the future, adopting a broad and inclusive vision for government affairs and making it convenient for leaders at all levels to take advantage of opportunities and legislation that prioritize bikes.
Together, we work with federal, state and local officials to make biking better for everyone.
