Cycling event is for/about: Let's ride some gravel at Shawnee State Park! We have planned two exciting gravel routes: The 45-mile Full Pebble Pounder and the 35-mile 3/4 Pounder. Experience some of the best gravel riding and racing available in the mid-west. Depending on your route you will be treated to over 4,500' of climbing as you traverse the most scenic and remote sections of Ohio's largest state park. This route option has amazing gravel, outstanding climbs, at least one incredible descent, and three bridal paths (one grass-covered). A cyclist favorite for welcoming the spring riding season, the main route is a flat to rolling 35-mile trek through small towns and beautiful countryside, including the Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail. A snack stop at the rail station in historic downtown Lisbon is featured. Pizza Hut lunch at the finish. A boutique tour of Ohio’s premiere destination route covering 326 miles on the Ohio to Erie Trail from Cincinnati through Columbus to Cleveland, 45 to 60 miles per day. Travel with guides that played a significant role in developing the trail over the last 20 years. Experience great riding with minimal gear and the added luxury of staying in hotels each night. Wednesday, 5/15. RIDE OF SILENCE. Statewide. Cyclists across Ohio will again take to the road, joining our brothers and sisters globally in the 2024 Ride of Silence, a silent procession to honor and celebrate the lives of family or friends injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. The Ride of Silence is a free event that requires all riders to wear helmets and maintain a speed no faster than 12 mph. Cyclists begin in Shawnee State Park and roll in and around Ohio’s largest and hilliest state forest, Shawnee State Forest, covering 9 to 100 hilly to very hilly miles. The ride offers five paved and two gravel routes, roving sag wagons, and aid stations. Registration and finish line festivities include a warm Southern Ohio welcome, music, and official finish line arch.
